The Kremlin has responded to US President Donald Trump’s recent statement on reducing the previously mentioned 50-day deadline for de-escalation in Ukraine, confirming that Russia has no intention of changing course.

Speaking to Russian state media Ria Novosti on July 29, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Moscow had “taken note” of Trump’s position but remains committed to continuing its war against Ukraine under the guise of the so-called “special military operation.”

“We continue to adhere to a peaceful process to resolve the conflict around Ukraine and to secure our interests in this resolution. I would avoid giving any evaluations here. We have taken note of President Trump’s statement,” Peskov said on July 29.

He also commented on the prospect of a meeting between Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, stating that the issue “has not been raised substantively” and “remains off the table.”

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced he was shortening his original 50-day ultimatum to end the war in Ukraine, saying the new deadline would be “10 or 12 days.” Speaking alongside UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on July 28, Trump cited a lack of progress and a loss of confidence in Moscow’s intentions. “There’s no reason for waiting,” he said.
