Russia has violated the energy ceasefire more than 30 times, damaging energy infrastructure, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Heorhii Tykhyi, stated during a briefing, as reported by Interfax on April 16.

“Just in the past 24 hours, three such violations have been recorded. Specifically, a transformer was damaged in the Mykolaiv region. A transformer was also damaged due to shelling on the outskirts of Kherson. And thirdly, yesterday, an electricity transmission line was damaged in the Poltava region,” Tykhyi said.

“All of these are considered violations of the energy ceasefire. We are conveying this information to our partners. By the way, since the start of the energy ceasefire, Russia has violated it more than 30 times.”

On April 15, the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation stated that Russia killed nearly two and a half times more Ukrainians during the 22-day US-brokered ceasefire than in the 22 days prior.

The energy ceasefire agreement, mediated by the US, came into effect on March 25 and was intended to halt attacks on energy and port infrastructure.

Despite the agreement, Russian forces have launched multiple strikes on energy infrastructure in recent weeks, including attacks in Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, and now the Kherson region.

Additionally, April 11 marked one month since Russia refused to accept a full interim ceasefire proposed by the United States. On March 11, Ukraine unconditionally agreed to the proposal in Jeddah, but Russia rejected it, instead demanding conditions.
