Ukraine's National Guard Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko stated in an interview with Ukrinform that he believes the Russian army plans to transition to defensive on the front within the next 1-1.5 months. He added that due to significant losses, the Russians will likely cease their offensives in multiple directions.

“It is hard. But the enemy's offensive capabilities are not limitless, and look at the losses they are suffering... I think in another month or month and a half they will not be able to conduct active assaults in many directions at once and will be on the defensive in any case. And during this time we need to form our divisions and prepare them. Yes, this is war…” said Pivnenko.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in an interview with BBC, on July 22, that around 20,000 of Russia’s military personnel were killed in action during its spring offensive in Kharkiv.

According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russia’s personnel losses, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, including killed and injured, surpassed 570,000 as of July 24, 2024.

The Commander added that it is important for Ukraine to find Russia’s weak spots and adapt.

“It is necessary to look for the weak spots of the enemy and bypass the strong ones. It is necessary to adapt, change the management model, and set tasks: if it does not work, try asymmetrical solutions. But you can't change everything radically, everything takes time, especially if we are talking about systemic changes,” Pivnenko stated.
