Russian Drone Drops Fake Banknotes in Chernihiv Urging Attacks on Ukrainian Forces

Russian forces dropped propaganda leaflets disguised as Ukrainian banknotes over Chernihiv on the morning of September 6, according to the Chernihiv Regional Police, cited by Ukrinform.
Police reported that residents discovered fake 100-hryvnia bills scattered in one of the city’s districts.
The leaflets contained messages urging people to share coordinates of Ukrainian Armed Forces positions and “help adjust fire” in exchange for money. Law enforcement said the materials were dropped from a drone.

A criminal investigation team was dispatched to the site, and authorities are considering legal classification of the case.
“On the morning of September 6, police received a report that propaganda leaflets in the form of 100-hryvnia banknotes had been found in one of Chernihiv’s neighborhoods. The leaflets were dropped from a drone,” the regional police said in a statement quoted by Ukrinform.
Officials stressed that disclosing the location or movement of Ukrainian troops is a criminal offense. Police urged citizens not to distribute such materials and to destroy them if found.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation reported that Russia had launched a propaganda campaign across Europe under the slogan “Russia is not my enemy.”
Stickers, posters, and film screenings in countries including Romania, France, and Italy sought to depict Moscow as a peacemaker, while officials warned the effort was aimed at undermining democratic institutions and weakening support for Ukraine.
