Russian military personnel operating FPV drones have reportedly received goggles containing explosive devices. The devices were designed to detonate upon activation.
Russian Telegram channels circulated images and videos purportedly showing a shipment of FPV goggles that had been modified with small explosive charges.
The devices, identified as Skyzone Cobra X V4 goggles, contained 10-15 grams of plastic explosives embedded near the cooling fan, positioned close to the user’s temple. The detonation circuit was reportedly linked to the power button, making the devices lethal upon use.
According to reports, the booby-trapped goggles were discovered during an inspection of humanitarian aid intended for Russian forces. The explosives were concealed within the goggles' internal structure, requiring disassembly to be detected. It remains unclear how the shipment was intercepted before reaching the front lines.
A Russian military blogger, who reportedly received a package containing FPV goggles, described how the devices were carefully packed and appeared normal until further inspection revealed the concealed explosives.
The package was allegedly sent by an individual named “Roman” and originated from China, although this information has not been independently verified. Some reports suggested that the explosives may have been hidden within the battery compartment.
