Russian Drone Strike Hits Residential Building in Kharkiv, Injures Five Including a Child

On April 2, a Russian loitering munition hit a residential building in Kharkiv, injuring at least five people, including a 10-year-old boy. The attack involved a “Molniya” drone and targeted a high-rise building in the city’s Kyivskyi district.

According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, the drone struck the eighth floor of a multi-storey apartment building, causing structural damage and shattering windows. The explosion did not result in a fire, but several vehicles parked nearby were also damaged.

Preliminary reports indicated that two people were wounded in the initial strike. Later updates confirmed the number of injured had risen to five. Among those hospitalized are a 65-year-old woman and a 10-year-old child, both of whom sustained shrapnel wounds.

Terekhov also reported that the strike damaged three residential buildings in total. Municipal authorities documented 122 broken windows, including 69 windowpanes and 53 balcony panes. Emergency services and volunteers are currently working at the scene to mitigate the aftermath.

Earlier, on March 31, Russian forces launched five guided aerial bomb (KAB) strikes on a frontline community in the Zaporizhzhia region, killing a 66-year-old woman and injuring two others. The attack damaged residential and social infrastructure, with rescue operations continuing at the site.
