The Ukrainian city of Dnipro was struck by a series of Russian drone attacks, resulting in at least 28 casualties, including one fatality. Authorities reported that the attack caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure and left many people injured with shrapnel wounds and contusions, according to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipro Regional Military Administration, in a Telegram post on September 30.

Initial reports indicated that 12 people were injured, including one in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, one of the injured later died from his wounds. Two victims are being treated at home, while the rest remain hospitalized.

According to Lysak, the fire engulfed an office building and cars. An apartment building, a dormitory, and a cultural institution were damaged. Two cars were destroyed and 17 more were damaged.

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov reported that the strike damaged at least 20 residential buildings, as well as a medical center, a dental clinic, a city museum, a local lyceum, and several university buildings.

Emergency services, along with rescue and municipal teams, are working to provide immediate assistance.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that this attack highlights the urgent need for stronger international sanctions on Russia and more effective protection systems against Russian drones and missiles across Europe.

“With each such blow, the Russians prove again and again that strong pressure is needed on them. They prove that international sanctions against Russia must become much more painful for the aggressor,” Zelenskyy wrote in a Telegram post.

Previously, it was reported that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has formally charged two Russian generals and their subordinates from the 4th Tank Division in absentia for ordering strikes on civilian infrastructure in Okhtyrka, Sumy region.

Update: As of 8:08 p.m. Kyiv time, Lysak reported that the total number of casualties had risen to 28.
