Russian strikes temporarily cut power for around 70,000 consumers in Ukraine’s Chernihiv region, Reuters reported, citing local authorities on Septmber 26.

About 29,000 households in Chernihiv and nearby areas and 43,000 in Nizhyn lost electricity, according to the regional power operator, which said restoration work is ongoing.

Chernihiv’s water company, Chernihivvodokanal, reported that all its facilities lost power on September 26.

Chernihivvodokanal said staff are prioritizing sewage pumps before restoring the water supply and urged residents to stock up on drinking water.

Overnight, Russian forces also hit energy facilities in Vinnytsia, disrupting supply and sparking fires, according to Reuters.

Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure throughout the full-scale invasion, intensifying attacks in recent weeks ahead of winter.

The strikes are part of a broader pattern, including sustained attacks on Ukraine’s railway network since summer, the CEO of the state railway company noted, Reuters writes.

Previously, it was reported that Ukraine had endured a large-scale Russian assault overnight, with Russian forces launching 40 missiles, both cruise and ballistic, and around 580 drones of various types, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.
