In the early hours of February 5, Kyiv was once again targeted by Russian drone strikes, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

As a result of the strike, two people were injured, one of whom, a 79-year-old woman, was hospitalized, while an 89-year-old woman received on-site medical assistance, National Police of Ukraine reported.

The attack primarily targeted the Solomianskyi district, where drone debris caused windows to shatter in two residential buildings and damaged the facades of nearby structures and parked cars. No fires were reported in this area.

“Debris also fell near a shopping center. At another location, the facades were damaged, and windows were shattered in a kindergarten and a residential building,” Klitschko wrote on Telegram.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, drone fragments hit the roof of a four-story office building, sparking a fire that was later extinguished by firefighters.

Meanwhile, in the Darnytskyi district, debris landed near a café located within a residential building, though no damage to the building itself occurred.

In the Obolonskyi district, debris falling onto a car park led to a fire involving two vehicles.

The National Police confirmed that investigative and operational teams, bomb disposal experts, and emergency services were working on-site.

The attack on Kyiv occurred as Russia ramped up its strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure during what Ukrainian officials called the coldest nights of the winter.

On February 3, the bombardment targeted heat and power facilities across eight regions, leaving hundreds of thousands without heating as temperatures plummeted to -25°C (-13°F), Ukrainian officials reported.

The attack unfolded in waves, beginning with Shahed-type attack drones and ballistic missiles, followed by cruise missiles launched from the sea and strategic bombers. The primary focus of the strikes was on combined heat and power plants (CHPs) and thermal power stations (TPPs), which were crucial in maintaining warmth for Ukrainian cities amid freezing conditions.

Earlier, Russian forces carried out multiple attacks on Druzhkivka, a city in the Donetsk region, employing cluster munitions and airstrikes. The assaults resulted in seven fatalities and left 15 individuals injured.
