Russian Helicopters in Crimea Obliterated in Security Service of Ukraine Drone Operation

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced that during the night of June 27–28, its drones struck the Kirovske military airfield in occupied Crimea, destroying a Pantsir-S1 self-propelled anti-aircraft missile-gun system and three Russian helicopters—Mi-8, Mi-26, and Mi-28, as was reported by SBU on June 28.
The operation targeted aviation components, air defense installations, ammunition storage depots, and enemy UAV facilities at the Russian-held airbase, inflicting fire damage across multiple critical sites.

Secondary detonations throughout the night indicated strikes on stored munitions, suggesting the raid’s effectiveness and precision.
“The occupiers must realize that their expensive military equipment and ammunition are not protected anywhere: neither on the line of combat contact, nor in the temporarily occupied territories, nor deep in the enemy’s rear,” the report by the Security Service of Ukraine reads.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces destroyed two SU-34 jets and damaged two more in a long-range drone strike on the Marynivka airfield in Russia’s Volgograd region, triggering a fire in the technical and operational zone as part of a broader effort to degrade the Russian aviation component.
