Russian Strike on Odesa Kills One, Injures 23 Including Children and a Pregnant Woman

On January 27, at least 23 people were injured in a Russian overnight attack on Odesa, with nine of them hospitalized, according to the Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.

According to regional authorities, 14 of the injured sustained minor injuries and received medical assistance on site. Nine people were hospitalized, including two girls born in 2013 and 2008, as well as a woman who is 39 weeks pregnant. One person is in serious condition, while eight others are reported to be in moderate condition.

Later, during rescue operations following the overnight strike, emergency workers discovered the body of a man believed to be elderly under the rubble.

Emergency response efforts continue across the city following the overnight strike. Residential areas suffered the most damage, particularly in the Prymorskyi district. There, 43 buildings and an estimated 122 apartments were damaged. Rescue workers are still clearing debris, and 67 residents have already sought assistance at the emergency response headquarters.

In the Peresyp district, three residential buildings were damaged. More than 200 windows were shattered, including 51 window structures that were completely destroyed by fire.

In the Khadzhibey district, search and rescue operations are ongoing, with three people initially listed as missing.

Municipal services and volunteers are assisting residents by temporarily sealing broken windows with plastic sheeting and OSB boards.

Earlier, Russian forces attacked on the Sumy region, injuring seven civilians, including two children, Sumy regional police reported.

Shelling was recorded in 36 settlements, with the most intense strikes hitting the Sumy and Shostka districts. The attacks left civilians wounded and caused damage to residential buildings and vehicles.
