DTEK Naftogaz said overnight drone and missile strikes on October 16 targeted its energy infrastructure in Poltava region, forcing a halt to operations at gas extraction sites.

“At night, the enemy once again attacked DTEK Naftogaz’s energy infrastructure with drones and missiles. As a result of the attack, the operation of gas production facilities in Poltava region was stopped,” the company stated via its Telegram channel.

Local authorities said the strikes and falling debris damaged oil and gas infrastructure, leaving 6,450 consumers in six settlements temporarily without gas supply while emergency teams worked to restore service.

LB.ua, citing Naftogaz and DTEK messages, reported injuries among company personnel and noted this was the sixth such attack on gas assets since the beginning of the month, underscoring a pattern of repeated strikes on Ukraine’s upstream facilities.

Militarnyi described a combined attack employing drones and missiles against the Poltava energy cluster. Restoration work and damage assessments were ongoing at the time of reporting.

Earlier, it was reported that Russia launched the largest combined missile and drone strike on Naftogaz gas facilities in Kharkiv and Poltava.
