Russia Launches Largest Missile and Drone Strike on Naftogaz Gas Facilities in Kharkiv and Poltava

On the morning of October 3, Russian forces carried out the largest attack to date on Ukraine`s Naftogaz Group’s gas production infrastructure, targeting facilities in Kharkiv and Poltava regions.
According to the company, the strike involved 35 missiles—many of them ballistic—and 60 drones. While some were intercepted, not all could be stopped.
“This was a deliberate act of terror against civilian facilities that provide gas extraction and processing essential for the normal life of people. There was no military purpose or rationale. It was yet another display of Russian malice, aimed solely at disrupting the heating season and depriving Ukrainians of the ability to heat their homes this winter,” said Sergii Koretskyi, CEO of Naftogaz.

He noted that a significant portion of the company’s facilities had been damaged in the attack, with some of the destruction assessed as critical.
Naftogaz specialists, together with the State Emergency Service and other emergency teams, are now working on site to assess and contain the damage.
Koretskyi emphasized that Ukraine is coordinating with its partners to ensure a rapid and adequate response to both the immediate consequences of the strike and its wider impact.
“Terror must never prevail,” he added.
Earlier, it was reported that an emergency occurred at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant after Russian shelling of energy infrastructure in Slavutych, Kyiv region. Voltage surges triggered a blackout at the New Safe Confinement, the critical structure enclosing Reactor 4 and preventing radioactive leakage.
