Zelenskyy: Russia Launches 300 Drones and 37 Missiles in “Double Terror” Tactic on Ukraine’s Energy Grid

Russia fired more than 300 drones and 37 missiles across Ukraine in a coordinated wave of strikes that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned as another act of “double terror” targeting civilians, rescue workers, and energy infrastructure.
Russia launched more than 300 attack drones and 37 missiles against Ukraine overnight, once again employing its “double terror ” tactic targeting critical and civilian infrastructure across five regions, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on October 16.
“This night was about strikes on our people, our energy system, and civilian infrastructure. Russia used over 300 attack drones and 37 missiles, many of them ballistic, against Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.

According to the President, infrastructure in the Vinnytsia, Sumy, and Poltava regions came under fire. In the Chernihiv region, a strike on the city of Nizhyn damaged a postal facility and injured one person.
In the Kharkiv region, Russian forces targeted critical infrastructure and a unit of the State Emergency Service.

“There are wounded. Recovery efforts are underway everywhere. Emergency services are working,” Zelenskyy added.
“And there is confirmation that the Russians are using double terror – attacking with ‘shaheds’ carrying cluster munitions and launching repeated strikes to injure firefighters and energy workers who are restoring damaged facilities.”

Zelenskyy said Russian forces have been attacking Ukraine’s energy system every single day this fall.
“Putin has turned a deaf ear to everything the world says, so the only language that can still get through to him is the language of pressure – pressure through sanctions and pressure through long-range capabilities,” Zelenskyy said.
“Strong decisions are possible, decisions that can help. And this depends on the United States, on Europe, on all partners whose strength directly determines whether the war will be ended.”

He also emphasized the importance of renewed peace efforts in the Middle East.
“In Europe, this is also possible. That is exactly what I will be discussing today and tomorrow in Washington,” Zelenskyy concluded.
Earlier, Russian forces attacked a humanitarian mission in the Kherson region, targeting United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) trucks.
