Operators from the Signum Battalion of Ukraine’s 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade detected and destroyed a Russian armored target concealed inside a fortified caponier position, according to combat footage released by the unit on March 2.
Video published on the battalion’s official page shows Ukrainian drone operators locating the hidden vehicle before launching a coordinated FPV drone strike against the position.

According to the unit, armored vehicles have become increasingly scarce for Russian forces at this stage of the war. Despite mounting losses, Russian troops continue deploying remaining armor to the battlefield, apparently relying on additional protective measures and fortified positions to improve survivability.
In this case, Signum drone pilots identified the target in time and carried out multiple precision strikes. Several FPV drones were required to fully penetrate and destroy the vehicle’s armor, the battalion said.

At this stage of the war, armored vehicles are in short supply for the enemy.

“Result—minus one more enemy vehicle. And most importantly—this tank will no longer fire at our infantry,” the unit stated.
“Preserving the lives of our brothers-in-arms is an unconditional priority,” the battalion added.
The strike highlights the growing role of FPV drones in modern combat, where relatively inexpensive unmanned systems are increasingly capable of locating and neutralizing armored vehicles once considered difficult targets—even when protected by field fortifications.
Earlier, footage circulating online showed what was described as a Russian brigade-level underground command post in a rear area, featuring reinforced corridors, workrooms, communications nodes, ventilation, and living spaces.
