Satellite images reviewed by Krymskyi Vyter show traces of fuel slicks in the port area. Russian officials have not released details regarding the cause of the fire or the type and quantity of oil products spilled.
The port of Kavkaz, situated on the Chushka Spit, serves as a key node for ferry and cargo operations between Russia’s Taman Peninsula and occupied Crimea.
The tugboat fire followed a series of overnight explosions across multiple Russian regions. Ukrainian special operations units reported drone strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, including power substations in Kursk and Alchevsk and an oil terminal in Tuapse.

Earlier on November 3, a Russian Project 1124M Albatros-class anti-submarine ship caught fire at the Sevastopol naval base in occupied Crimea. The vessel, moored in Sukharnaya Bay, was seen emitting thick smoke. While the exact ship and cause remain unconfirmed, observers identified it as one of Russia’s remaining Albatros-class vessels still stationed in Sevastopol.
