New satellite images, using Maxar data, reveal the aftermath of the 8.8 magnitude earthquake at Russia's Rybachiy Submarine Base, part of its Pacific Fleet, according to OSINT expert MT Anderson in a post on X, dated August 4.

The images show that only one pier has sustained significant damage, with no other visible signs of impact from the earthquake or subsequent tsunami.

The base remains active with multiple submarines docked, including four Oscar II-class, one Akula-class, one Borei-class, and one decommissioned Delta III-class submarine. The Delta III appears to have been relocated from its original position, which was near the damaged pier.

Additionally, there has been notable progress in the expansion of the pier west of the submarine berths. A significant observation is the netting installed over the missile loading piers across the bay, likely for camouflage or more probably for protection against drone attacks.

Previously, it was reported that a satellite image of Russia’s Rybachiy nuclear submarine base in Kamchatka, which houses much of Russia’s Pacific Fleet, had shown significant damage after a tsunami triggered by an 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit the region. The image, captured by Umbra Space, revealed that one of the piers at the base has bent away from its original position, possibly due to being detached from its moorings, according to The Telegraph.
