Scholz Unveils €1.4 Billion Package for Ukraine, Including Air Defense Systems and Drones
Germany, with the support of its allies Belgium, Denmark, and Norway, will deliver a €1.4 billion ($1.5 billion) aid package to Ukraine by the end of the year.
This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a press conference with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This package will include Air Defense systems, IRIS-T, Skynex, Gepards, controlled howitzers, self-propelled artillery, armored vehicles, combat drones, radars and ammunition.
Additionally, the Chancellor announced that Germany provided €600 million ($660 million) in military aid to Kyiv, a fifth IRIS-T system, tanks, howitzers, ammunition, and drones entered there.
Ukraine is actively seeking approval to deploy long-range missiles to target Russian air bases and military infrastructure involved in attacks on Ukrainian civilians and energy facilities.
However, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has expressed opposition to easing restrictions on Ukraine’s use of German-supplied weapons for strikes on Russian territory. In contrast, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock highlighted the necessity of preventive measures to thwart future Russian attacks.
