Sweden Provides Up To $10 Million in Military Aid to Ukraine, Including 2 Patrol Ships
Sweden has committed to a new $9.8 million (€9 million) aid package for Ukraine, which includes two ships to bolster Ukraine’s maritime security, reported Sweden’s Minister of Civil Defense, Carl-Oskar Bohlin during a meeting with Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, on November 5.
The new support package includes a transfer of 2 vessels to Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, enhancing its maritime capabilities.
Sweden will also provide 40,000 protective masks and respirators for the Ukrainian State Emergency Service.
“We see Ukraine as fighting on behalf of the entire civilized world, and we will continue our support because European security hinges on Ukraine’s resilience,” Bohlin stated.
Bohlin pointed to a commitment to closer collaboration between Swedish and Ukrainian ministries, noting that “We share Ukraine’s view on security, which also affects Sweden. We also hope to learn from Ukraine’s experience to bolster our own security.”
Earlier, the Swedish government announced a new €63 million military aid package to support Ukraine, with €20 million of the funds allocated specifically for purchasing Ukrainian-made defense equipment.
