The Swedish government will fund the creation of a rehabilitation center in Ukraine for wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

As reported by European Pravda on July 10, the facility will become part of a joint NATO–Ukraine project that has been underway for the past two years.

Its mission is to help injured Ukrainian servicemembers recover and, whenever possible, return to duty—or adapt to civilian life with dignity and independence.

“Ukraine is fighting not only for its freedom, but for ours as well. Continuing to support them in this fight is the most important task of today’s security policy,” said Sweden’s Minister for Civil Defense, Carl-Oskar Bohlin.

Swedish Minister of Health Acko Ankarberg Johansson added that rehabilitation support remains in high demand.

“This aid will also play a vital role in reforming and modernizing Ukraine’s healthcare system. I’m proud that Sweden’s experience and commitment to Ukraine can help make that happen,” she said.

The project includes renovating and adapting an existing building in Ukraine, supplying state-of-the-art medical rehabilitation equipment, and training Ukrainian medical professionals in trauma care and physical and psychological rehabilitation.

The initiative will run from July 2025 to July 2027.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine’s first dedicated center for survivors of captivity, torture, and psychological trauma officially opened in Lviv on June 24.

The center is part of the Unbroken ecosystem—a nationwide initiative aimed at rehabilitating and reintegrating individuals affected by Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
