UK and France Confirm Troop Deployment to Ukraine for Postwar Stabilization

During a virtual meeting of the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed their readiness to deploy troops to Ukraine once hostilities come to an end.
The UK Government reported the development on its official website on August 17.
The meeting, which included Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reaffirmed the Coalition’s unwavering support for Ukraine and emphasized the central role the grouping will play in securing a just and lasting peace. Leaders underscored that the Coalition stands prepared to deploy forces under the framework of the Multinational Force Ukraine to help stabilize the country after the cessation of fighting.
According to Militarnyi on August 18, as part of its commitment to Ukraine, the Coalition of the Willing will deploy specialists in logistics, weapons systems, and training to support the recovery and reform of Ukraine’s Ground Forces.

Coalition air units, working alongside the Ukrainian Air Force, will also take on responsibility for safeguarding the country’s airspace. Regular aerial patrols are intended to enhance civilian safety and pave the way for the restoration of normal international air travel.
At sea, the Coalition plans to bolster the Black Sea Operational Group—currently made up of Turkey, Romania, and Bulgaria. Additional specialized personnel will be assigned to accelerate the demining of Black Sea waters, ensuring safe and reliable maritime access to and from Ukraine’s ports.
Earlier, it was reported that US President Donald Trump intends to urge Russian leader Vladimir Putin to agree to an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine during their meeting in Alaska later this week, saying the United States will join a Coalition of the Willing to provide Kyiv with security guarantees if the fighting ends.
