UK to Expand Operation Orbital After War, Admiral Radakin Pledges Long-Term Support for Ukraine

The United Kingdom has outlined long-term plans to deliver extensive support to Ukraine after Russia’s war comes to an end.
In an interview with European Pravda on August 28, Admiral Tony Radakin, Chief of the Defense Staff of the United Kingdom, emphasized that Britain’s commitment to Ukraine will remain strong well beyond the battlefield.
He recalled that in 2014, London launched Operation Orbital to assist Ukraine and deepen cooperation between British forces and Ukraine’s army and navy. According to Radakin, this effort will evolve after the war into “Operation Orbital ++,” which will expand into additional areas of the defense sector.

“I expect there will also be an air component, and in the future it will extend to space and cyberspace as well. After all, modern warfare is conducted across five domains,” Radakin noted.
The admiral underscored that throughout his tenure, both government officials and opposition representatives in the United Kingdom have stood firmly united in backing Ukraine.
“The issue of Ukraine has never been one that divided British politics,” Radakin added.
Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal met with UK military leaders Admiral Tony Radakin and Sir Richard Knighton to discuss strengthening defense cooperation, focusing on expanding drone production and industrial collaboration under the Build with Ukraine initiative.
