A UNITED24 Media journalist reported on the U.S.-Ukraine meeting in Jeddah, citing Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi during a March 13 briefing. The talks went beyond a temporary ceasefire, addressing a broader cessation of hostilities, including land operations.

Ukraine has accepted a potential 30-day interim ceasefire, reinforcing its commitment to ending the war. Officials stated that the move serves as proof of Ukraine’s willingness to negotiate peace.

“Now, the focus shifts to Russia’s response. Ukraine has made its move, clearly demonstrating its willingness to pursue peace and end the war as soon as possible. This has always been Ukraine’s position, and we have now proven it with a concrete step—accepting a potential interim 30-day ceasefire,” Tykhyi stated.

“It is now up to Russia to show whether it is truly willing to end the war. We can expect to see a reaction in the coming days, though it is unclear how long it will take for Russia to respond. So far, a full day has passed without any reaction from their side.”

Previously, it was announced that the exchange of prisoners of war is a priority for Ukraine, and it insisted that this needs to be mentioned in both joint statements. This was reported by a UNITED24 Media journalist, citing Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi’s statement during a briefing on March 13.
