Ukraine Builds 100km Deep Defense Line From Kyiv Reservoir to Sumy to Stop Any New Advance

Ukraine’s Armed Forces are constructing a continuous line of fortifications along the northern border with Russia and Belarus, stretching from the Kyiv Reservoir to the city of Sumy.
“We are dedicating significant forces and resources to ensure this line is built in the shortest possible time,” Vasyl Syrotenko, head of the engineering troops under the Support Forces Command, said in an interview with Ukrinform on April 28.

According to Syrotenko, the goal is to prevent Russian forces from establishing a so-called buffer zone along the border and pushing Ukrainian troops away from key defensive positions.
Unlike earlier fortification efforts focused on immediate frontline areas, the new defensive system extends well beyond them.
Positions are being constructed not only within the first 20 kilometers from the front, but also as far as 100 kilometers inland, creating a layered defensive depth.
The project also incorporates new countermeasures against fiber-optic guided FPV drones, which have become an increasingly prominent threat on the battlefield.
Earlier, OSINT researchers reported that Russian setbacks on the battlefield gave Ukraine additional time to strengthen and expand its defensive fortifications on several frontline directions.
