Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the Armed Forces for halting Russia’s offensive in the Sumy region and making fresh gains along the border in his evening address on September 14.
Zelenskyy said Ukrainian units continue to advance toward the state border in Sumy, where fighting has been intense for weeks.
Today I want to especially thank all our warriors who are inflicting truly significant losses on Russia. Losses at the front. Losses along the border. Losses on Russia’s own territory thanks to our long-range strikes. The most effective sanctions – the ones that work the fastest… pic.twitter.com/tOdd6xkqqD

He thanked the 225th Separate Assault Regiment and the 71st Jaeger Brigade for their role in repelling Russian attacks.
“As of today, we can state that Russia’s offensive operation on Sumy has been completely derailed by our forces. Fighting continues along the Sumy border, but the Russian grouping in this direction has lost its offensive capabilities as a result of sustained losses,” Zelenskyy said.

Independent monitoring group DeepState reported that Ukrainian troops have broken through toward the border town of Konstiantynivka, placing it in partial encirclement.
Earlier, the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skala” raised the national flag over the village of Zarichne, publishing a video of the operation.
The village sits along the Zherebets river and is part of the Lyman territorial community in Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region.
