Ukraine Denies Loss of Sea Baby Maritime Drones, Rejects Claims of Entering Romanian Waters

Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has denied losing any of its maritime drones during combat missions and dismissed reports suggesting that its unmanned systems had crossed into Romanian territorial waters.
In comments provided to Suspilne on December 3, the SBU emphasized that all Sea Baby naval drones remain operational and are carrying out their assigned tasks in the Black Sea as planned.
“All SBU Sea Baby maritime drones involved in combat missions in the Black Sea continue to operate in accordance with approved plans and objectives. None of them has been lost,” the agency stated.

The statement came after Romania’s Ministry of Defense reported on the same day that military divers had neutralized an object drifting near the port of Constanța in the Black Sea. According to the ministry, the object was identified as a Sea Baby-type maritime drone.
The SBU, however, firmly rejected this claim, stating that none of its drones approached Romania’s coastline and that “no Sea Baby unmanned system entered Romanian territorial waters.”
The service added that its operations are conducted strictly within designated areas and are aimed exclusively at striking legitimate Russian military targets.

Earlier, it was reported that Russian state media have claimed that a Ukrainian drone strike targeted the Russian-flagged oil tanker Midvolga-1 in the Black Sea. However, Ukrainian officials have denied any involvement, suggesting the incident may have been staged.
