Ukraine has developed a ground drone called “Bambetel”, which can be controlled simultaneously via both fiber-optic and radio channels, according to an announcement from Skelia Systems on December 24.

Skelia Systems stated that, in collaboration with KB-MEGATECH, they have successfully created an efficient, low-profile drone. The Bambetel is equipped with a fiber-optic communication system, complemented by a backup radio control channel, enhancing both its survivability and reliability.

The optical cable enables fast data transmission and full resistance to electronic warfare interference. The drone can cover distances of up to 20 km and carry payloads weighing up to 20 kg.

Skelia Systems emphasized that the drone has successfully passed testing and is ready for operational deployment. Its technical specifications include a range of up to 20 km and a maximum speed of 15 km/h.

The drone is powered by an electric motor and weighs 25 kg. Its dimensions are 1,150 mm in length, 670 mm in width, and 420 mm in height.

““This sneaky little one will quietly and unnoticed crawl where it needs to go and deliver gifts to the right recipients,” Skelia Systems stated.

The communication system uses two channels: a primary digital fiber-optic link with a Full HD camera and control via the CRSF protocol, and a backup radio control channel through the drone and a relay unit.

Previously, Ukraine has begun fielding a new artificial-intelligence-powered anti-drone weapon capable of intercepting more than 100 drones without reloading, a system designed to counter the growing threat posed by small, fast, and highly maneuverable FPV drones, Ukrainian defense outlet Defense Express reported on December 23.
