On October 18, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that Ukraine is upgrading its interceptor drones as a replacement for anti-aircraft missiles to better defend against Russian drone assaults.

During a meeting with top commanders of Ukraine's Armed Forces, Syrskyi expressed gratitude to all those involved in creating, training, and deploying drones that target enemy UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles - Ed.).

Syrskyi also noted that air command authorities are implementing automation systems designed to improve the destruction of Russian aerial threats. He highlighted the importance of air defense in protecting critical infrastructure, especially with winter approaching and concerns that Russia may escalate strikes on Ukraine's energy sector.

"We continue to equip the Air Force with modern electronic warfare systems," Syrskyi stated, stressing that these enhancements will bolster the protection of vital facilities against air strikes.

Ukrainian forces has been consistently launching drone strikes on Russian military targets. A major oil depot in temporarily occupied Feodosia, Crimea has been burning for three consecutive days following a successful strike by Ukrainian forces on October 7.
