Ukraine Faces 100,000 Cyberattacks Monthly, Minister of Digital Transformation Reveals

Ukraine is targeted by approximately 100,000 cyberattacks each month, according to Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovation and Minister of Digital Transformation.
He made the statement during the NV event on June 18 “The Great Digital Transformation. Dialogues About the Future.”
“The number of cyberattacks is extraordinary. We register around 100,000 attacks every month. The state is handling this challenge with resilience,” Fedorov said.
He noted that employees of the Ministry of Digital Transformation are equipped with AI-based software that monitors user activity on their devices.
The system is designed to detect anomalies in real time and has already identified several viruses that traditional antivirus programs had missed.

To enhance cybersecurity capabilities, the ministry has reached an agreement with a major donor who will fund procurement processes for both public and private sector cyber defense initiatives.
Fedorov emphasized that rapid response is critical to minimizing damage from cyber threats.
Earlier, in October 2024, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that discussions were underway to establish Cyber Forces as a standalone branch within the military.
The proposal was reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Lieutenant General Anatolii Barhylevych, involving military officials, parliamentary representatives, and cybersecurity experts.
The initiative aims to strengthen Ukraine’s operational capabilities in cyberspace—recognized as a separate domain alongside land, air, sea, and space.
Participants examined international models and Ukraine’s own wartime experience to define the structure, functions, and responsibilities of the potential Cyber Forces branch. The General Staff noted that its creation would support more effective planning and execution of cyber operations across the defense sector.
