Ukraine Launches “Expose the FSB Agent” Campaign in Schools to Counter Russian Recruitment Tactics

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police are continuing their nationwide awareness campaign, “Expose the FSB Agent,” by holding in-person meetings with school and college students.
A statement posted by the SBU on Telegram on April 30 explains that the initiative aims to counter Russian intelligence (FSB) efforts to recruit Ukrainian youth.
According to a broadcast on the national telethon, at least 14 teenagers were recruited by the Russian intelligence since the beginning of the year with the goal of involving them in terrorist operations.

During the lecture, representatives of the SBU and the National Police explain to students how Russian intelligence agencies attempt to recruit young people through social media and messaging apps. They also share practical tips on how not to become a tool in the hands of the Russian agents.
“If someone agrees to carry out tasks for Russian handlers in exchange for promises of ‘easy money,’ there are only three possible outcomes—all of them bad,” said SBU spokesperson Artem Dekhtiarenko. “The first is death from an explosion. The second is serious injury, if they’re lucky enough to survive. The third is prison—because the SBU and National Police will track down every perpetrator.”
He urged students to immediately report any recruitment attempts to law enforcement, including through the SBU’s chatbot “Expose the FSB Agent”.
On April 16, the SBU reported detaining nine FSB agents who were preparing terrorist attacks in central and eastern regions of Ukraine. Among those detained were five minors, aged 14 to 15.
