Ukraine Moves to Localize Production of Spanish Cuttin-Edge Guardian 30 Weapon Stations

Ukraine’s Ministry for Strategic Industries has held talks with Spanish defense manufacturer Escribano Mechanical and Engineering (EM&E) on localizing the production and servicing of remote weapon stations in Ukraine, the ministry announced on May 5.
According to Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin, the partnership would significantly enhance Ukraine’s military technology and strengthen frontline units with more advanced equipment.
“I was pleased to hear about EM&E’s interest in doing business in Ukraine and their clear understanding of the prospects of working with a Ukrainian defense enterprise,” Smetanin said.
“Thank you for your substantive approach and real steps toward cooperation. I’m convinced both sides will benefit greatly from working together.”
The discussion focused on the potential for localizing the production and maintenance of Guardian 30 remote-controlled weapon stations (RCWS) at Ukrainian defense facilities.
The Guardian 30 is a state-of-the-art remote turret system designed for battlefield safety and mission flexibility. The system is equipped with automatic cannons, machine guns, and other payloads, allowing it to perform fire support, reconnaissance, and surveillance roles.

Thanks to its remote-control capability, the system allows operators to control the turret from a safe distance, significantly reducing the risk to personnel.
Guardian 30 RCWS modules are known for their high maneuverability and adaptability, suitable for deployment on armored vehicles, naval vessels, or fixed installations. Integrated visualization and control technologies make these systems highly effective in countering modern threats.
Earlier, Spanish defense manufacturer Tecnove announced it will begin licensed production of Ukrainian armored vehicles for the European market under a new joint venture with Ukrainian company NVO Practika , a firm known for producing combat-proven vehicles for Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
According to company representatives, the production will focus on light tactical vehicles “Dzhura ” as well as Kozak armored vehicles of an unspecified variant—though promotional materials feature the Kozak-5, a model built on a Ford F-550 chassis.
