Ukraine Receives 1,000 Repatriated Bodies of Fallen Ukrainian Soldiers From Russia

As a result of repatriation efforts, 1,000 bodies, which the Russian side claims belong to Ukrainian service members, have been returned to Ukraine.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War on October 23.
“Investigating authorities, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will carry out all necessary examinations and conduct identification of the repatriated bodies in the near future,” the statement read.
According to the headquarters, successful repatriation was made possible thanks to the collaborative work of several key agencies. These include staff from the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center under the SBU, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other institutions.

The transportation of the repatriated remains to designated state specialized institutions and their transfer for forensic examination were managed by personnel from the Central Civil-Military Cooperation Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Joint Center for Civil-Military Cooperation Measures.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia mixed the bodies of its own deceased soldiers with those of fallen Ukrainian defenders during a recent repatriation process conducted under a new exchange procedure.
As part of the "I Want to Live" project, the Ministry shared photographs and details of individuals whom Russia had falsely identified as Ukrainian servicemen.
