Ukraine Rescues Family Threatened in Occupied Crimea for Following Ukrainian Media

As part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, a Ukrainian mother and her five children have been successfully evacuated from temporarily occupied Crimea, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak announced on August 7.
While living under occupation, the woman faced threats and pressure from the Russian authorities. According to Yermak, Russian police threatened the family with criminal prosecution after discovering that the mother was subscribed to Ukrainian news channels on her phone.
“Understanding that it was no longer safe to remain, the family set off on a long and difficult journey through several countries to return home,” Yermak said.

The family has now safely arrived in Kyiv, where they are receiving full support for reintegration—ranging from psychological care to placing the children in schools and kindergarten.
Yermak thanked the Office of the President’s Representation in Crimea, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State Border Guard Service for their role in making the rescue possible.
Earlier, Several Ukrainian children were rescued from Russian-occupied territories under President Zelenskyy’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative.
Among them is a 15-year-old girl who faced harassment for wearing a traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirt to school but continued to express her identity despite threats.
