Ukrainian drones destroyed a large Russian military warehouse containing thousands of unmanned aerial vehicles and transport equipment during a strike inside Russian territory, Ukraine’s 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade reported on February 22.

According to the brigade, the facility was located in Russia’s Kursk region near the border with Ukraine’s Sumy region—an area from which Russian forces have been attempting offensive operations.

Ukrainian reconnaissance identified the site as a major logistics hub where Russian forces had concentrated large quantities of drones, ammunition, related equipment, and light vehicles used by drone crews.

“The enemy believed that nothing threatened it on its own territory, but forgot that such a concentration of valuable resources is equivalent to their destruction,” Ukrainian paratroopers said.

Drone manufacturer Ptashka Drones, whose systems were used in the strike, stated that roughly 10,000 drones were stored at the facility. The attack also destroyed at least ten vehicles used to support drone operations.

“The result of our ‘Birds’ operating via fiber-optic communication, capable of penetrating distances of up to 50 kilometers and catching the enemy by surprise,” the company said.

The strike highlights Ukraine’s growing ability to target logistical infrastructure beyond the frontline using advanced unmanned systems designed to resist electronic warfare interference.

Military analysts increasingly view such deep strikes against drone depots and supply hubs as a key element of Ukraine’s strategy to disrupt Russia’s expanding UAV warfare capabilities, which have become central to battlefield operations along the front.

Earlier, Ukrainian forces regained control of roughly 400 square kilometers of territory and eight settlements during an ongoing offensive operation in the southern operational zone.
