The Armed Forces of Ukraine have confirmed a strike on the permanent deployment point of Russia’s 448th Missile Brigade in the village of Klyukva, Kursk region.

According to Ukraine’s General Staff on April 15, this unit was involved in the recent ballistic missile attack on the city of Sumy on April 13, 2025—Palm Sunday.

The operation involved Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces, and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), acting in coordination with other defense components.

Ukrainian forces reportedly targeted multiple sites in the Kursk region connected to Russian military personnel involved in the Sumy strike and other attacks on civilian areas in Ukraine.

As a result of the strike, secondary detonations of ammunition were observed. The extent of damage and casualties remains under assessment.

The targeted unit—military unit 35535—is home to the 448th Missile Brigade, identified by Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) as one of the two brigades responsible for launching Iskander ballistic missiles at Sumy, alongside the 112th Missile Brigade.

Ukrainian defense officials have reiterated that systematic operations against key Russian military infrastructure will continue until the cessation of hostilities.

Earlier, on April 13, 2025, Russia launched two Iskander ballistic missiles equipped with cluster munitions at the city center of Sumy. The strike occurred on Palm Sunday, when many civilians were outdoors.

According to Ukrainian authorities, 35 people were killed, including an 11-year-old boy and a 17-year-old teenager. At least 117 others were injured, among them 15 children. Civilian infrastructure and residential buildings sustained significant damage.
