Ukraine to Receive $3.7 Billion Worth of Patriot Missiles From US-Based Raytheon

US defense contractor Raytheon has secured a $3.7 billion contract to supply Patriot GEM-T interceptor missiles to Ukraine, as announced in a company press release on April 14.
The new GEM-T production facility in Schrobenhausen, Germany, will play a pivotal role in fulfilling this direct commercial sale, ensuring the resilience of the supply chain while helping to replenish Ukraine's interceptor stock.

This facility is operated by COMLOG, a joint venture between Raytheon and MBDA Deutschland, and is expected to support this and other contracts, strengthening the reliability of the supply of vital defense systems to Ukraine.
“Raytheon is focused on maximizing production capacity, ensuring a steady, reliable supply of these combat-proven interceptors for the US and allies like Ukraine who rely on Patriot to protect their citizens, infrastructure and sovereignty,” Raytheon President Phil Jasper stated.
He further noted that Raytheon is making significant investments to ramp up GEM-T production in response to growing global demand. This initiative is being fueled by substantial investments from both internal and partner sources, second-sourcing efforts, and the expansion of its global supply chain.

The development comes, as Germany has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, which will include air defense systems, long-range weapons, drones, and ammunition.
During the meenting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on April 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also confirmed the signing of 10 defense agreements with Germany, including arrangements to supply PAC-2 missiles for the Patriot systems and additional missiles for IRIS-T launchers.
Additionally, Ukraine and Germany have agreed on a significant defense package valued at €4 billion ($4.3 billion), as announced by Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. The package aims to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, expand long-range strike capabilities, and establish joint drone production.

The defense deal includes key components such as financing for several hundred Patriot missiles. Furthermore, Germany will supply 36 IRIS-T launch systems, further bolstering Ukraine's multi-layered air defense network.
Meanwhile, the United States has awarded Lockheed Martin a $4.76 billion contract to produce PAC-3 MSE interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense system, driven by the continued demand for advanced systems to defend against ballistic and high-speed threats.
According to reports, the contract will cover the manufacturing of PAC-3 MSE interceptors, which are already deployed by the US and its allies, including Ukraine. These interceptors play a crucial role in countering threats like Russia’s Iskander-M ballistic missiles and Kinzhal air-launched systems, further strengthening air defense capabilities.
