Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and American defense contractor RTX have engaged in discussions about accelerating the delivery of Patriot missile systems and deepening industrial collaboration to bolster Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.

The meeting, held on February 4, involved Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhii Boiev and a delegation from Raytheon, led by Jennifer Pushner, the company’s Executive Director in Ukraine.

According to the press release, the talks focused on strategic cooperation aimed at strengthening air defense and developing domestic technical capacities for maintaining advanced military equipment.

Serhii Boiev highlighted the critical role of air defense systems in safeguarding Ukraine’s cities and critical infrastructure amid Russia’s ongoing attacks.

“You yourselves could see how vital and critical air defense capabilities are, as well as the speed with which we need to act in this area. Just last night, one of the largest combined strikes on Ukrainian territory, using a record number of ballistic missiles, resulted in further damage to the energy infrastructure,” he stated.

The discussion also covered plans for servicing and maintaining the air and missile defense systems currently in use by Ukraine’s Defense Forces. This collaboration marks a significant advancement in strengthening Ukraine’s defense systems and ensuring stable protection against external threats amid the ongoing war.

Meanwhile, US Senator Lindsey Graham has called on President Donald Trump to start supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles and to increase pressure on Russian leader Vladimir Putin after the latest large-scale attacks on Ukrainian cities.

“Clearly, the pressure we’re applying to Putin to come to the peace table and stop massive attacks against Ukraine is not working,” Graham stated, emphasizing the need for a more decisive approach.

He further suggested that the US and Europe should adopt Trump’s idea of targeting buyers of Russian oil, who, according to Graham, are helping to fund Russia’s war effort. He pointed to US tariffs on India as a model for how similar measures could be implemented by other major oil buyers to reduce Russia’s oil revenue.

“Finally, after this massive attack last night, I would urge President Trump to start a process to provide Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, which would be a game-changer militarily,” Graham added. “In the coming days and weeks, we must apply more pressure to Putin.”

Earlier, Yurii Ihnat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command said that Ukraine is experiencing a shortage of missiles for its air defense systems, causing some units to be temporarily without ammunition as they await new Russian strikes.
