During a new series of assaults in Russia’s Kursk region, Ukraine’s Defense Forces advanced up to five kilometers southeast of Sudzha, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

“Geolocated footage published on February 6 indicates that Ukrainian forces recently advanced southwest of Makhnovka and north and east of Cherkasskaya Konopelka […] and seized Kolmakov and Fanaseyevka,” ISW wrote.

According to the Institute, Russian military bloggers estimated that Ukrainian forces attacked with 30 to 50 armored vehicles. They claimed that one Ukrainian group advanced successfully from Makhnovka toward Cherkasskaya Konopelka, Fanaseyevka, and Ulanok, while another group was repelled by Russian forces as it moved from Dmitriukov toward Russkaya Konopelka.

Additionally, Russian military bloggers reported that Ukrainian forces launched attacks southeast of Sudzha amid poor weather conditions, which hindered Russian drone operations in the area.

On February 6, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that in six months of the Kursk operation, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have captured over 900 Russian soldiers.
