Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Sumy region, bordering Russia’s Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod, where he held a meeting with the Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi and the Head of the Sumy Military Administration.

Syrskyi reported Ukrainian forces replenishing the exchange fund and taking control of one more settlement in the Kursk region but did not specify its name.

The Commander-in-Chief also outlined the operational situation in all areas of active operations, and in particular in the most difficult areas of the front. He informed about the steps taken to strengthen the defense in the Toretsk and Pokrovsk directions in the Donetsk region.

Ukraine officially announced carrying out an operation in the Kursk region on August 12. On August 20, Syrskyi confirmed Ukraine’s control of more than 1,260 km² of territory and 93 settlements in the Kursk region.
