Ukrainian HUR Uncovers Foreign Electronics in Russian Missiles and Drones

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR) has published new data exposing Russia's reliance on foreign technology for the production of high-precision weapons.
Information regarding 68 new components, found in Russian missiles and drones, has been uploaded to the “Components in Weapons” section of the War&Sanctions portal.
As of October 27, this update includes details found in critical weapons systems that Russia utilizes for massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and civilian cities. The components were identified in the 9M727 “Iskander-K” cruise missile, the Kh-47M2 “Kinzhal” aeroballistic missile, the North Korean KN-23/KN-24 ballistic missile, and the “Geran-2” (Shahed-136) attack drone.

According to HUR, despite news of “successful localization efforts,” Russian missiles and drones continue to fly using chips and elements from American, Chinese, Swiss, Japanese, Taiwanese, and other foreign manufacturers. Furthermore, two of the six types of weapons used in this attack were supplied to the Russian Federation by its strategic partners Iran and North Korea.
“Today's update confirms that current global practices of export control and mechanisms for interaction between countries require review and improvement in response to the new challenges of wartime,” HUR stated.
Earlier, Russian forces targeted civilian infrastructure in the Odesa region with guided aerial bombs for the first time on October 24.
