Ukraine and Russia continued carrying out the new prisoner exchange, agreed during the second round of negotiations in Istanbul. A group of Ukrainian service members, many of them seriously injured or ill, were returned home on June 10.

This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the official X account.

According to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the released personnel include soldiers, sergeants, and officers from various branches: the Navy, Ground Forces, Territorial Defense, Air Assault Forces, Drone Forces, Border Guard Service, National Guard, and the State Special Transport Service.

Some of the returned individuals had been held in captivity for more than three years. All of them are suffering from serious injuries and health conditions, including amputated limbs, vision impairment, abscesses, infections, trauma, shrapnel wounds, chronic diseases, hepatitis, and tuberculosis.

The Coordination Headquarters clarified that, for security reasons, the precise details of the exchange would only be made public after the completion of the entire process.

On June 9, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the start of a new prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia.
