A team from Kyiv, Ukraine has claimed a victory at the NASA Space Apps Challenge , standing out among more than 10,000 teams (90,000 participants) from across the globe.

Their innovative project, ‘NVS Knot’, utilizes Earth observation data to enhance decision-making in agriculture. The project earned recognition for its exceptional potential to improve life both on Earth and in space.

According to NASA, the challenge focused on addressing water-related issues that farmers face, such as unpredictable weather, pests, diseases, droughts, and floods—sometimes occurring within the same season. Participants were tasked with designing tools that enable farmers to explore, analyze, and use NASA datasets to tackle these challenges and improve farming practices.

Roman Malkevych, a member of the winning team, shared his excitement:

"Congratulations to the team and thank you to everyone involved in this achievement!" Malkevych said.

The NASA Space Apps Hackathon is held annually to celebrate innovative solutions, awarding 10 global prizes to the most impactful projects.

Previously, it was reported that Ukraine's national men's and women's boxing teams won first place overall at the European U22 Boxing Championships.
