US–Ukraine Co-Developed Artemis Combat Drone Completes Successful Battlefield Test Phase

Auterion, a leading developer of defense drone software and AI-powered autonomous systems, has successfully completed the US Defense Innovation Unit’s Artemis program, delivering a long-range strike drone system modeled on lessons learned in Ukraine.
The Artemis drone—described as a Shahed-like design developed in Ukraine—has a combat-proven range of up to 1,000 miles and can carry a warhead of up to 40 kilograms.
“Software-driven autonomy is changing the nature of deterrence,” said Lorenz Meier, CEO of Auterion. “Our Artemis entrant is designed for mass production and rapid deployment, enabling partner nations to field resilient autonomous strike capabilities at scale. We are ready to build the long-range deterrence force needed to tackle new challenges, especially in the Indo‑Pacific.”

The drone uses Auterion’s Skynode N mission computer and Visual Navigation system, allowing it to operate even in GPS-denied environments. Terminal guidance features ensure precise strikes in the final phase of flight.
Operational testing took place in Ukraine and included successful demonstrations of long-range navigation, GPS jamming resistance, and terminal targeting, Auterion reported. Following these tests, US government evaluators approved the system for broader deployment, and Auterion is now offering it to the US Department of War and allied defense partners.
Auterion has partnered with a Ukrainian hardware manufacturer—whose identity remains undisclosed for security reasons—and is also working with US and European defense companies to scale up production and integration across allied forces.

The Artemis drone builds on Auterion’s existing support for Ukraine’s defense, where the company’s AI-enabled strike kits have already seen combat use. Now, with global manufacturing underway, the Artemis platform is positioned to offer long-range deterrence at scale across multiple theaters.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine is working on AI-driven drone interceptors designed to neutralize Russian guided bombs, in a joint effort involving multiple Ukrainian and European defense companies.
