US President Donald Trump publicly criticized Russia’s latest missile and drone assault on Kyiv, calling the deadly attack unnecessary and poorly timed, Trump wrote on Truth Social on April 24.

“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!” Trump wrote.

His comments came just hours after a Russian overnight barrage killed at least eight people in the Ukrainian capital, including two children.

More than 90 others were injured, and 31 remain hospitalized — five of them children. Rescue crews are still searching through the rubble, with reports of survivors and fatalities trapped beneath the debris.

Despite the civilian toll, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov defended the attacks, stating that Russian forces would “continue striking military and quasi-military targets,” based on directives from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, following Russia’s massive overnight attack on Ukraine Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that “pressure should be directed at Moscow, not Kyiv.” The attack involved cruise missiles, drones, and ballistic weapons.

“Yesterday’s Russian maximalist demands for Ukraine to withdraw from its regions, combined with these brutal strikes, show that Russia, not Ukraine, is the obstacle to peace. Moscow, not Kyiv, is where pressure should be applied,” Sybiha wrote.
