Zelenskyy and European Leaders Pay Tribute to Ukraine’s Fallen Heroes in Kyiv

Leaders of Poland, the UK, France, and Germany joined Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska on May 10 in a ceremony on Kyiv’s Independence Square to honor the memory of those killed in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“We commemorated the warriors who gave their lives for our freedom and Ukraine’s independence. Eternal glory and gratitude to the heroes — those who are no longer with us, but who will forever remain in our hearts. Eternal memory to those who gave their lives defending Ukraine,” Zelenskyy wrote on his official X account.

Earlier, it was reported that French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk arrived in Kyiv on May 10 for a high-level meeting of the so-called “coalition of the willing.”

On March 2, Starmer announced the creation of a “coalition of the willing” to support a coordinated peace plan for Ukraine.
The UK PM emphasized the need for a group of nations prepared to take active steps to enforce a potential peace agreement.
