Zelenskyy Appeals for Faster US Air Defense Missile Deliveries Amid Ongoing Shortages

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has informed European partners about Ukraine’s urgent need for air defense missiles, stating that while missiles are arriving, the pace of delivery needs to be faster. He added that new air defense systems have not arrived from the United States, speaking to journalists on January 7.
Zelenskyy revealed that he had shown European leaders the critical air defense systems that urgently require missile supplies, but refrained from disclosing specific details publicly.

He emphasized that while the US has not delivered new systems, Ukraine is continuing to receive missiles, though at a slower rate than desired.
“Not only did I discuss this, but I showed in detail to Europeans yesterday which systems urgently need missile supplies,” Zelenskyy said. “We want to speed up the process.”

He also specifically thanked Norway for its support, though again did not share further details. The Ukrainian Presdient reiterated his appeal to the United States, stressing the need for more timely and consistent supplies of weapons to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Previously, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine intends to order 27 Patriot air defense systems from American manufacturers as Russia continues to pound Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, he said in an interview with The Guardian.
