One of the youngest of the 2000 journalists to cover the NATO Summit in The Hague, he patiently waited on the doorsteps to ask his question. “I’m excited, but to a level where I can still control it,” Rutte replied, returning a smile. A few hours later, the NATO leaders' meeting would begin.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump met on June 25 on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague. The leaders discussed the possibility of ending the war in Ukraine, protecting civilians, and further cooperation. Zelenskyy described the conversation as substantive, while Trump said he plans to speak with Vladimir Putin and suggested that “this is a great time to end the war.”
