Zelenskyy: Ceasefire Plan to Be Ready Within 10 Days—Putin Unlikely to Accept It

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he doubts that Vladimir Putin would accept a peace plan proposed by the Coalition of the Willing, a group of allied nations working on a framework to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. Zelenskyy made the remarks in an interview with Axios on October 27.
The statement followed comments from British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who last week said the coalition had developed a concrete peace plan for Ukraine to be finalized by the end of 2025.
Zelenskyy confirmed that discussions on the plan are ongoing among coalition members, including the United States and European partners. He emphasized that while Ukraine remains committed to exploring diplomatic solutions, any proposal should be concise and action-oriented.

“The plan should be short, without too many details,” Zelenskyy said. “Some quick points. Like a plan for a ceasefire. We decided we will work on it in the next week or ten days.”
Despite this, the Ukrainian leader expressed little confidence that Putin would take any peace proposal seriously. “I’m skeptical that he’s ready to accept any peace plan,” he said.
Earlier, Zelenskyy warned that Vladimir Putin aims to create a humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine this winter, as Russia intensifies attacks on the country’s power grid and civilian infrastructure.
