51 UN Member States Issue Joint Call for Russia to Follow Ukraine’s March 2025 Ceasefire Commitment

A coalition of 51 United Nations member states released a joint statement standing with Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported on September 23.

The coalition demanded that Moscow immediately cease its military operations and commit to peace negotiations.

In the unified address, the coalition highlighted that “back in March 2025, Ukraine agreed to a complete, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire. We call on Russia to finally do the same.”

The 51 nations called on Russia to follow suit, urging Moscow to meaningfully engage in negotiations aimed at securing a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace.

“We call on Russia to ensure the immediate, safe, and unconditional return to Ukraine of all Ukrainian civilians who have been arbitrarily detained, forcibly displaced, or deported, including children,” the UN coalition stated.

The statement also strongly condemned Moscow’s continued efforts to block Ukrainian agricultural exports.

“Russia is attempting to block Ukrainian grain exports, thereby jeopardizing global food security. We support efforts to ensure freedom of navigation in the Black Sea,” the UN coalition continued.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomed the declaration, reiterating the coalition’s core message: Ukraine desires peace, but a resolution remains impossible until Russia halts its aggression and meaningfully participates in the diplomatic process.

Russian forces have recently struck an Antigua and Barbuda-flagged civilian cargo vessel in the Black Sea in an overnight attack, killing its Ukrainian captain and setting the ship ablaze.

The Ukrainian Navy evacuated the surviving crew members and extinguished the fire, while the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration (USPA) condemned the strike as another deliberate act of Russian terror against international shipping corridors and maritime workers.
