Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,260 Troops, 3 Tanks, and 61 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russian forces lost another 1,260 troops, three tanks, four armored combat vehicles, and 61 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on July 8.

According to the latest figures, Russia’s total estimated personnel losses since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, have reached approximately 1,413,510.

Ukraine’s military also reported the destruction of one multiple launch rocket system, five ground robotic systems, 2,074 operational-tactical UAVs, 462 vehicles and fuel tankers, and four pieces of special equipment over the past day.

Overall Russian losses reported by Ukraine now include 12,100 tanks, 24,903 armored combat vehicles, 45,569 artillery systems, 1,918 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,478 air defense systems, 436 aircraft, 353 helicopters, 1,853 ground robotic systems, 396,920 operational-tactical UAVs, 4,887 cruise missiles, 33 ships and boats, two submarines, 117,547 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,398 pieces of special equipment.

Ukraine’s General Staff said 271 combat engagements were recorded along the front line over the past day, with the heaviest fighting in the Pokrovsk direction.

Over the past day, Russia carried out one missile strike using one missile and launched 90 airstrikes, dropping 272 guided aerial bombs.

Russian forces also used 10,063 attack drones and conducted 3,065 strikes on settlements and Ukrainian military positions, including 42 attacks using multiple launch rocket systems.

Ukraine’s aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck eight areas where Russian personnel were concentrated, five control points, four UAV command posts, five artillery systems, three command posts, an ammunition depot, and two other important Russian targets.

Earlier, reports emerged that Russian commanders are sending soldiers on high-risk flag-planting missions to produce battlefield photo reports from areas not fully under Moscow’s control.

The report described the practice as “flag planting,” in which small Russian assault groups infiltrate contested settlements, raise a Russian flag, and record footage for propaganda or command reporting.
